As a therapist, I use my natural curiosity as a way to understand my client’s struggles, so that I can help them lead a happier, more fulling life. I am currently a Registered Provisional Psychologist in the Province of Alberta. I completed my undergraduate in Psychology at the University of Alberta and my Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. I have 19 years of experience working in mental health and addictions. I am passionate about helping adults, youth, couples and families recover from loss and heal from painful events in their life.

My approach follows a trauma informed framework, relying on evidenced based and culturally sensitive practices.  I always seek to provide a non-judgmental, client centered and solution focused therapeutic environment.  I have completed training in the following areas:

Other events may have been started at a younger age. These unfortunate events may include child abuse, neglect and exposure to domestic violence, terrorism and war. Jorge’s previous work with Child Welfare, the Zebra Centre and Alberta’s provincial jails have prepared Jorge to provide an evidence based approach to assessing and treating such calamities. Primarily from a Trauma Informed CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) approach, Jorge uses a number of therapeutic interventions meant to: >ul>

    Jorge has uses Motivational Interviewing and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to assist persons at risk. When working with youth and adults experiencing poly-substance abuse issues, it is important to be compassionate, non-judgmental and solution focused. Jorge has 10 years of experience facilitating individual, group and family therapy sessions designed to
    • Understand the type and effects of drugs on the body
    • Address mental health issues that may have encouraged substance dependence
    • Create a robust relapse prevention plan and understand sobriety options
    • Understand the impact of mindfulness, exercise and diet on recovery planning
