It’s not easy to ask for help.
At River’s Edge Counselling Centre, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible in what may be a difficult time of life. We believe counselling should bring hope and healing to your life, and not add undue stress. We’ve made every effort to create a welcoming, peaceful environment for individuals, couples, and families to come for help.
Take a look around.
A short tour of the Centre, so you know what to expect before you arrive.
When you arrive
If you arrive early for your session, please make yourself comfortable in the waiting room and help yourself to some coffee, water, or tea. You may wish to use this time to relax and make the transition away from the rest of your daily activities. Some clients choose to journal or spend a few moments reflecting on the thoughts, feelings, questions, and experiences they may wish to bring to their session. Your therapist will meet you in the waiting room at the time of your session.
A note about our waiting room
You’ll notice that our waiting room doesn’t have a reception desk — this is intentional. Our admin team is on site during office hours, but we’ve kept the waiting area private, so no one is asked to share personal information in front of others, and so clients we may be speaking with by phone aren’t overheard. When you first walk in, there is a bell at the front door. If you have a question or need help, please ring it once and a member of our team will come as soon as they can. (If we happen to be on the phone with another client, we’ll be with you shortly.)
Before your first visit
You’ll receive some forms in advance — including information about confidentiality, consent, and the process of therapy — accessible through your Client Portal. Ongoing, your Client Portal is where you’ll book sessions, make payments, review invoices, and view your upcoming appointments.
Free 2-hour parking is available on site.
If you have any questions at all, please reach out to our Client Care team any time.
Prefer to meet online?
Can’t make it in person? Our therapists also offer online sessions, so you can meet from home or wherever you happen to be.
We are here to help.
