Counselling is a profound journey of self-discovery, navigating the complexities of life with the support needed to overcome its challenges. Life can often present hurdles that seem insurmountable alone, yet through counselling, we can find the guidance and understanding necessary to unlock our full potential. It’s a process that encourages introspection, growth, and empowerment, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of oneself and the tools to face life’s difficulties with resilience and clarity.

How Allison works with…

Adolescent / Teen
When I engage with teenagers, I strive to strike a balance between structure and flexibility. When working with teens, my primary focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship to understand their unique perspectives and needs. By doing so, I work with them to develop a robust toolbox of coping skills tailored to navigate the challenges of adolescent life effectively. I aim to empower teens with the resilience and strategies they need to thrive amidst the complexities of life.
Couples
Relationships can be difficult. Conflict can increase through life transitions, family changes, life stressors and more. Whether it be a communication breakdown, life stressor, infidelity or other, we work together to meet in the middle and bridge the gap. I use The Gottman Method and Emotion Focused Therapy to mediate conflict, increase intimacy and rekindle the spark in the relationship..
Trauma/PTSD
When working with trauma, I employ modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and somatic interventions to support individuals in their journey towards healing and growth. My aim is to not only alleviate the immediate distress of trauma but also facilitate long-term recovery and foster post-traumatic growth. This holistic approach empowers individuals to transform their trauma into opportunities for personal resilience and positive change.
LGBTQ+ and Gender Identity
Creating a safe and affirming space is fundamental. I prioritize providing a supportive environment where individuals can explore and express their authentic selves without fear of judgment or discrimination. I address the challenges posed by a heteronormative society by offering validation, empathy, and tailored support that acknowledges the unique experiences and marginalization faced by LGBTQ+ individuals. Through this approach, I aim to empower clients to navigate their identity journeys with resilience, self-acceptance, and a sense of belonging.
