Beliefs

Life is complex. Each of us is shaped by our experiences, relationships, environments, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and where we belong. When challenges arise, it can be easy to focus on symptoms, setbacks, or what feels “wrong.” However, I believe that our struggles often make sense when viewed within the context of our lives.

I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding. Through curiosity, reflection, and compassionate exploration, we can develop a deeper awareness of ourselves, our patterns, and the experiences that have shaped us. This understanding can create opportunities for growth, healing, and greater choice in how we move through the world.

Counselling offers a space to pause, reflect, and explore life’s complexities without judgment. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to better understand yourself and navigate the challenges that bring you to therapy.

Approach

My approach to counselling is holistic, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person is unique. I recognize that there is no single approach that fits everyone, and I strive to tailor the counselling process to your individual experiences, strengths, values, and goals.

I draw from an integrated range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, attachment-based, person-centred, cognitive-behavioural, and solution-focused perspectives. I am particularly interested in exploring how early experiences, relationships, and patterns developed over time may continue to influence how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us today.

At the same time, I believe counselling should not only deepen self-understanding but also support meaningful action. Together, we can explore both the deeper roots of current challenges and practical strategies that help you move toward the life you want to create.

Background

Alongside my practicum, I work with the Department of National Defence supporting Canadian Armed Forces members as they navigate significant life transitions. Through this work, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals facing questions of identity, purpose, change, and belonging during some of life’s most challenging periods.

My professional background also includes work within the non-profit sector in employment assistance and mental health promotion, as well as clinical experience supporting individuals with a variety of personal and mental health concerns. These experiences have reinforced my appreciation for the resilience people demonstrate when navigating adversity and change.
I hold a Bachelor of Science with specialization in Psychology from the University of Alberta and am currently completing my Master of Counselling degree at Athabasca University.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy pursuing interests that satisfy a curious mind and encourage exploration of the complexity and nuance of the human experience. This curiosity continues to inform both my personal growth and my work as a counsellor.
