Welcome

I strongly believe in the power of relationships.  The therapeutic relationship is the starting point in the journey towards change and growth by first being accepted in a non-judgmental and safe space.  Each person lives in the context of relationships and I firmly believe these relationships and how we show up in these relationships are an important part of the journey.  A healthy individual forms healthy relationships and healthy parent-child bonds.

About Me

I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.  I have over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.  I use an eclectic approach to help guide our therapeutic journey with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, techniques in Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, and Hakomi Therapy, a mindfulness based body centred therapy.  I have a particular interest in working with children and adolescents, and mindfulness is the foundation of my work with clients and their families.

Areas of Practice

Children and Teens

With children I work with them primarily through play, art, sand tray and n.  I encourage a high level of involvement with the caregiver(s) to support and develop the parent-child relationship as I believe that the work continues even when you leave the office.  I also work with caregivers on self-care, communication and parenting skills.

With adolescents, I offer a range of modalities to find where their comfort level is including art therapy and sand tray as well as talk therapy and mindfulness.  I also encourage involvement with the caregiver(s) to work on parenting and building a more positive relationship with their teen.

I work with children and adolescents in the following areas:

Adults

Through an eclectic approach including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Hakomi Therapy, a mindfulness based body centred therapy, I support individual adults heal and grow in the following areas:

More About My specialties

[ Open All | Close All ]

Teen:
Adolescence is a truly one of the most difficult times in one’s life. It is a time for self- discovery, identity exploration, and finding a balance between independence from family and dependence on family.read more
My first goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship in order for them to feel heard and safe and know they are accepted as they are. Depending on the teens comfort and interest level, I will use art therapy, sand tray therapy, mindfulness and talk therapy. I work with teens to heal and cope through life stressors as well as through mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.

Children:
Children heal and grow within a safe and nurturing relationship. Often children are not able to verbally express what is troubling them and will act out, withdraw, or show drastic changes in their mood and behaviours. read more
I use techniques in pay therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy and mindfulness to help them work through what is distressing them, verbally or non-verbally. I encourage a high level of involvement from caregivers to help facilitate this change and growth. I also work with caregivers on self-care, parenting skills and growing their parent-child relationship.
