I believe that there is so much to learn through our experiences, especially the ones we cannot predict. Life can be a journey filled with beautiful moments and meaningful encounters, while also presenting challenges that bring feelings of determination and courage. At the same time, we may feel uncertain, stuck, or unsure about what direction to take or how to move forward. This is when reaching out for support becomes essential. Having someone walk alongside you, and when needed, help guide you toward the right path, can make a meaningful difference.
As a therapist, I believe that my role is to encourage, empower, and support rather than direct or create the path for you. Through building a safe space together, we can navigate difficult times while also taking a proactive approach when the path feels calm and clear.
I provide a space that is centered around you as the client. You are the expert of your experiences and of what brings you to therapy. I am here to learn about you while offering a trauma‑based, empathetic, non‑judgmental, and supportive environment. I recognize that some days we feel strong and capable of working on skills, and other days our cups may be close to full, or even overflowing, and that simply showing up to therapy is an achievement in itself. I see that, I relate to it, and I am here to meet you where your mental energy is.
As a therapist‑in‑training, I use interventions and foundations from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (skills based), Narrative Therapy (externalizing challenges), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (focusing on your values). My objective is to ensure that the skills and interventions we use are tailored to you. If we explore a therapeutic foundation that does not feel like the right fit, I am here to collaborate with you and adjust our work so that it aligns with what supports you best.
My pronouns are she/her, I am a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and I am a mother of two children who teach me something new about themselves and about myself every week. I have been a first responder for more than fifteen years and have experienced trauma through crisis response while also working in peer support roles to assist others who have faced trauma and crisis. I am currently completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University where I also have my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta.
Through my first responder lens, combined with my experiences navigating fertility and family, I have the understanding that we all experience trauma and unexpected challenges in our own individual way. We also heal and move through our experiences uniquely. Self compassion, along with the willingness to ask for and accept support, has become an important pillar in my own journey.
Outside of the office and the first responder world, you can often find me exploring mountain trails through hiking or biking. Nature and trees help ground me, and I am seeing this grow within my children as well. I also enjoy pursuing hobbies when time allows, including rowing on the North Saskatchewan River and candle making.
I am here to support you, walk alongside you, and provide a caring, gentle, and supportive space to talk, to listen, and to navigate the challenges in life that offer opportunities for resiliency and growth.
