I practice from a person-centred viewpoint meaning that inherently having a good relationship between a client and myself is essential to having a good relationship throughout therapy. I practice from an eclectic model establishing one or many theoretical orientations that will work for my client and their needs. I believe that we are all different, and unique beings, and I work hard to determine what my client needs and hopes to receive throughout this journey in order to provide them with the best care possible.

Approach

Along with my eclectic therapeutic practice, I also work with a variety of ages, areas, and situations, working with children, teens, families, adults, and couples.

Kira’s approach integrates:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Gottman Method
Narrative Therapy
Play Therapy
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Somatic / Body-Centered Approaches

How Kira works with…

Adolescent / Teen
I value working with Adolescents through these transition years. My approach to working with adolescents is through establishing a bond developed through our relationship. As this is a transition period throughout life I strive to work with my adolescent clients, as well as their families, through creating communication, connection, relationship, understanding, and compromise. This is such a valuable age in which development and learning occurs rapidly. I strive to work along-side my adolescent clients and their parents developing a therapy that will fit the needs and individual.
Couples

When working with couples I strive to work with the presenting concerns, based off of the client’s needs and hope from therapy. By working with each client, taking into account their individuality, I work to develop a therapeutic process to allow the best care possible. Working from a Gottman approach, I aim at creating goals, enhancing communication skills, and developing understanding.

Trauma/PTSD
I work with survivors of trauma through a person-centred approach, by ensuring my clients voice is heard, while prioritizing their comfort and security throughout. I work with clients of a variety of ages and experiences of sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse. I work hard to provide my clients with control over their experiences, empowering them to grow and heal.
