Therapy can be a profound experience that resonates on all levels of our being. It is an act of courage and pioneering exploration of our internal landscape, and the paths of discovery not only improve our well-being but deepen our day-to-day experiences. We are a social species and this journey is not meant to be done alone, even when it is only about ourselves. I consider it a deeply humbling process to bear witness to the experiences of others and help them bring some clarity, perspective, direction, and genuine compassion to their current struggles or tragedies.

We are adaptive by nature, but some problems life throws at us prove to be of such a new and different quality that our current strategies prove overwhelmed and in need of tweaking. Following the research, I believe in an integrative approach that emphasizes the most powerful variables of change—namely genuine compassion, relationship, and motivation. I understand change and healing through a psychodynamic framework, integrating techniques from cognitive behavioural (CBT), existential, and narrative approaches. I emphasize a collaborative approach founded in compassion, with the goal of empowering you to find the resources and perspective you need to move through life’s current challenges.

While I have studied psychology for decades, and am currently completing my Master of Counselling degree, my life has taken me on many tangents, all of which have helped me grow in compassion for humanity and the struggles people face. I have had a career in the arts as a photographer, and have created two businesses, one a school, which I ran for over a decade with my wife. .... read more
My wife is a survivor of cancer and the process of working through it led to many life-altering choices that made compassion for the struggles of change very real and present in my life. My 4-year-old daughter has also shaped me and changed me to see how much of our experience is grounded in big feelings that we need help being coached through to make sense of. I am passionate about the inner world of experience and navigating it to make some sense of its complexities. I am particularly interested in dreams, fantasies, and the creative generative power of the imagination in healing. Above all, I am passionate about walking alongside others in their journey and providing a compassionate and relational safe place in which they can explore, experiment, understand, and utilize new directions and changed behaviours to improve their experiences and struggles in life.

"People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life…[but] I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances with our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.”
