Reaching out for support can be one of the most challenging steps to take, but it is also one of the most important. Life’s difficulties can feel overwhelming at times, and it is natural to seek guidance and understanding. My aim is to offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I take a collaborative process that empowers you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence, helping you uncover new perspectives and solutions. Seeking support is a courageous act of self-care. Remember, you don’t have to face your struggles alone.

How Shedean works with…

Adolescent / Teen
Working with teens requires a delicate balance of empathy, trust-building, and understanding. I aim to create a safe space where teens feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. I utilize a person-centred approach, ensuring that each teen feels heard and respected in their unique experiences. CBT is often employed to help teens develop healthier thinking patterns and coping strategies for the challenges they face. In therapy, I aim to empower teens, helping them build resilience and confidence as they navigate the complexities of adolescence.
Couples
When working with couples, I focus on fostering open communication and mutual respect, which are essential for a healthy relationship. I often draw on the principles of the Gottman Method, which provides tools for improving connection, managing conflict, and building a strong partnership. Therapy sessions are a collaborative process where both partners are encouraged to express their needs and concerns in a safe, non-judgmental environment. My approach is tailored to the unique dynamics of each couple, helping them strengthen their bond and navigate challenges effectively. I emphasize the importance of empathy and understanding, guiding couples toward a deeper emotional connection.
Trauma/PTSD
I practice from a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing the impact that traumatic experiences can have on an individual’s mental and emotional well-being. EMDR is a key modality I use to help clients process and heal from traumatic memories. In therapy, I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can gradually explore and confront their trauma at their own pace. My goal is to help clients regain a sense of control and empowerment, reducing the emotional distress associated with their trauma.
Addiction
In working with clients facing addiction, my approach is rooted in understanding the complex interplay between emotional, psychological, and physical factors .I aim to meet clients where they are at, whether it be to completely abstain or to take a harm reduction approach. I help clients develop coping skills, manage cravings, and regulate emotions. Therapy sessions focus on identifying and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to addictive behaviours, such as trauma, stress, or mental health challenges. My goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to break the cycle of addiction, fostering long-term resilience and well-being.
