Heartstring: A journey towards hope and healing

Children’s Grief Group

Four Sessions for Children 8-12yrs  (for kids 6-7 and 13yrs, contact us to see if registration might be possible, depending on the ages of other children registered for the current session)

April 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2024

Grief impacts everyone differently and children, who may be experiencing grief for the very first time, might have difficulty understanding and expressing the full impact of their loss. Parents and caregivers may struggle to know how to support the children in their lives as they move through their own process of grief.

Heartstrings is an interactive and supportive group for grieving children ages 8 to 12 who have experienced the loss of an immediate family member or close friend. Within this small group format, grief-related art projects, play activities, and other therapeutic tools will help children make their way through their grieving process while remembering and honouring their loved one. Children will learn invaluable life skills for dealing with emotions and find healing in a safe and supportive environment.

Program Cost: 72.50 (1.5hrs) x 4 weeks = $290.00

Note: Group therapy with a Registered Psychologist is covered by many insurance plans. Please speak with your insurance provider to inquire if your plan will cover the cost of the group.

You will not be asked to make a payment when you fill out the registration form.

Once it is received, our admin team will contact you to answer any questions and confirm your registration.

Payment and Cancellation Policy for Programs

Initial Payment

When you confirm your registration with our admin team, you will pay a $75 administrative fee to secure your spot in the program. This fee is non-refundable. When the remainder of the program fee is due, this administrative fee will be put towards your balance. We will require a credit card on file at the time of registration*.

Final Payment

You will be charged the entire program fee (less the 75.00 administrative fee) 2 weeks before the start of the program (or the next business day). Once the full program fee is charged, it is non-refundable.

Receipts

When the full program fee is charged to your credit card, we will send you a receipt by email. You will also receive individual receipts on the actual dates of the program. This is important because for insurance purposes**, your provider may require a separate invoice for each session, rather than the full receipt for payment provided at registration.

*Payments for programs are taken by credit card. If you require a different payment method, please advise our admin team.

**Group mental health programs are sometimes covered by insurance plans. Please speak with your insurance provider to inquire if your plan will cover the cost of this program. Important information to provide them will also be the designation of the group facilitator.
