Some experiences in life touch us so profoundly, that they cause a ripple effect through the whole of our life—affecting us emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally, and spiritually.

These include experiences of trauma, relationship conflict, and significant life transitions. They also include experiences of loss—loss of a loved one, loss of hope, loss of health and quality of life, or loss of connection with others.

We are all in need of caring, empathic persons to help us navigate the sometimes chaotic waters of human living.

In my counselling practice, I strive to create relationships in which you can feel safe to explore the effects of past and present experiences in your life, find creative and effective solutions to life’s challenges, and discover your inner wisdom and capacity for living a full and authentic life. Counselling is an opportunity to touch your own life in a hopeful, healing way, allowing the effects to ripple through every part of your life and being.

In individual (adult), couples, and group therapy, it is a privilege for me to make this journey with clients.

My Areas of Focus include:

My experience, training and skill in key therapeutic approaches gives my work with clients both flexibility and depth. While my primary approach is psychodynamic (relational, insight-oriented), I draw on a number of other approaches to meet the diverse needs and goals of clients—including narrative, solution focused, cognitive-behavioural (CBT), mindfulness-based and family systems. The breadth of these approaches will make it possible for me to help you determine whether a more reflective or problem solving, short or longer term approach, will best meet your needs.

My special training and interest in spirituality means that I am open and attuned to matters of the soul as they present themselves in therapy. Experiences of both joy and suffering can give rise to some of the deepest questions of human living:

  • Who am I?

  • What is the meaning of my life?

  • Where do I belong?

I have found that some clients, of many different religious and also non-religious backgrounds, have appreciated the invitation to give voice to their questions, share their sacred stories and consider the role of spirituality in their overall health and well-being.
