Self Esteem Counselling

Self Esteem Counselling

The way we relate to ourselves shapes the way we relate to others and the world around us. When we live life with a sense of being “not good enough,” we make assumptions that others will also see us in negative ways. When we have a low sense of self worth, we overestimate the possibility of failure, and underestimate our ability to cope with the inevitable obstacles in life.

There are three simple questions every person should ask themselves when evaluating how they feel about their own self worth:

  • Do you believe in your ability to reach your goals and dreams?

  • Can you ask for what you want and need in a relationship?

  • Do you have the confidence to accept new challenges and opportunities in life?

If you answered no to any of the above questions, you may want to consider self-esteem counselling to increase your self-confidence.

Rivers Edge Counselling Centre counsellors (link to team page) know that low self-esteem can prevent you from following your dreams, accepting new challenges and establishing healthy relationships. They can help you discover what is holding you back and at the same time build up your self-esteem.

Eskay Ilori
The story you tell yourself about who you are was not written by you alone. It was shaped by voices from your past, by messages you absorbed, by moments that taught you to shrink or perform or hide. ... read more
...When that story leaves you feeling not enough, too much, or fundamentally flawed, it may be time to examine it together. My work in this area is gently challenging and deeply collaborative. We explore the roots of your self-doubt, the parts of you that learned to protect by staying small, and begin, slowly, to write a new story, one grounded in your own sense of worth rather than borrowed beliefs.
