Talking about Puberty!

A workshop for pre-teen girls and their parents/caregivers to help get the conversation started

Two Session Program (Second Session Optional):

Friday, April 26, 2024, 7:00-8:30pm (Parents/Caregivers Only)

Optional Part Two: Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10:00-12:00 (Girls 10-12 yrs and Parents)

Are you a parent of a pre-teen and are not entirely sure how to discuss puberty, the next stage of your girls’ changing body? Ready or not puberty is coming…… together as parents/caregivers we will discuss how you can help yourself and your pre-teen talk about and manage these changes.

friday session:

Parents/Caregivers will learn (both parents are welcome to join):

  • how and when to talk your kids about their bodies and about sex or sexuality

  • to encourage reflection of your own beliefs and values around our bodies, sex and sexuality

  • about media influences and how to combat these influences

You will gain a better understanding of:

  • sexual development in pre-teens

  • consent

  • body safety rules

  • healthy relationships

  • gender

We will also provide you with resources for further learning.

saturday session:

In the second optional session (you must attend the first session to register for the second session), one parent/guardian and their child will attend together. The topics above will be covered again, in a way that is developmentally appropriate for the girls and enhances understanding together.

Why is the second session held with parents and kids together? Why not just drop off my child to learn this on their own?

Ideally, the parent/caregiver will continue to be the person their child turns to for information and support. Learning together in the session will hopefully help to start this conversation and build a shared language, as well as provide parents/caregivers with some new skills to continue the lifelong conversation for healthy sexual development.

Payment and Cancellation Policy for Programs

Initial Payment

When you confirm your registration with our admin team, you will pay a $75 administrative fee to secure your spot in the program. This fee is non-refundable. When the remainder of the program fee is due, this administrative fee will be put towards your balance. We will require a credit card on file at the time of registration*.

Final Payment

You will be charged the entire program fee (less the 75.00 administrative fee) 2 weeks before the start of the program (or the next business day). Once the full program fee is charged, it is non-refundable.

Receipts

When the full program fee is charged to your credit card, we will send you a receipt by email. You will also receive individual receipts on the actual dates of the program.
